Sometime when you upgrade your lga775 dual core system (e.g.e3400) to a lga771 quad
processor(e.g.e5450) ,system only recognized two core in your new e5450, it's not a bios
issue ,it should a issue from operating system.
How we to fix this problem??There are two methods you may try below.
Method_1
Reinstall a new operating system ,i recommend this method.
Method_2
1. Press windows key + R to get run dialog box .
2. Type msconfig then press enter to open "system configuration".
3. Navigate to Boot.ini -> Advanced Options 
4. Uncheck option "Number of Processors" and press ok then save and exit
5. Reboot your machine.
